The Ennis Whiskey Club have organised a series of Irish Brand Ambassador tastings around Ennis again for 2025. Our February event was the West Cork Distillers Whiskey range presented by Cathal O'Brien.
West Cork Distillers [For the People, By the People] was the brainchild of childhood friends John O'Connell, Ger & Denis McCarthy with humble beginnings back in 2003. They are now the largest independently owned distillery in Ireland and have their own core range, as well as providing products for many independent bottlers. Coming up from Skibbereen, Cathal brought us their Black Cask Blend, the 5yo Pot Still, the Calvados Cask finished maritime single malt and the 7yo Single Malt. We finished the tasting with a 60% abv cask sample of a 9yo single malt, fully matured in a red wine cask.
