The Ennis Whiskey Club have organised a series of whiskey tastings around Ennis again for 2024. Our March event was the Japanese Whiskey range from MacCormaics portfolio presented by Paul Maguire.
MacCormaics is a independent specialist wine and spirits importer based in Dublin. The clubs relationship with Paul goes back to 2014 when we first visited Japanese whiskeys. Check out the club page for what we tasted back then.
This time around, Paul brought us the Togouchi Single Malt, Mars Cosmo Blended Malt, Okayama Single Malt, Akashi Single Malt and finished with one of the older brands, Nikka from the Barrel.
Paul brought along a map of Japan so everyone could follow where the various distilleries are located, and more importantly, to understand the climate differences and the effect that has on maturation in Japan.
