After serving his time with Shinjiro Torii at the Yamazaki distillery, Masataka Taketsuru branched out on his own and built the Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido in 1934 and is Japan's most northerly distillery. This 10 year old (~€85) is a vatting of bourbon, new oak and sherry matured whisky and is bottled at 45% ABV.
