Walsh Whiskey, which is behind the Irishman and Writers' Tears brands, was founded in Co Carlow in 1999 by husband-and-wife team, Bernard and Rosemary Walsh. The company’s brands are sold in over 50 countries.
In 2019 the firm announced the end of its partnership with Illva Sarrono, the Italian drinks company, which had invested in Walsh Whiskey in 2013, with a new distillery opening in Carlow in 2016. In 2021 Amber Beverage Group acquired the firm, with Mr. Walsh remaining as managing director.
Previously known as Founder’s Reserve, The Harvest from the Irishman range is a triple distilled blend of 70% single malt and 30% single pot still. Matured entirely in American Oak bourbon barrels, it is made with 100% Irish barley, both malted and unmalted. It is bottled at 40% abv.
