Walsh Whiskey, which is behind the Irishman and Writers' Tears brands, was founded in Co Carlow in 1999 by husband-and-wife team, Bernard and Rosemary Walsh. The company’s brands are sold in over 50 countries.
In 2019 the firm announced the end of its partnership with Illva Sarrono, the Italian drinks company, which had invested in Walsh Whiskey in 2013, with a new distillery opening in Carlow in 2016. In 2021 Amber Beverage Group acquired the firm, with Mr. Walsh remaining as managing director.
This triple-distilled single malt whiskey carries a 10 year old age statement and is made entirely from 100% Irish barley, matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and is bottled at 43% abv. It was commissioned by the Ennis Whiskey Club to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. It is a limited edition release of only 100 bottles.
